From acclaimed director Sophie Hyde (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande), JIMPA is an uplifting multi-generational family story starring award-winning favourites Olivia Colman & John Lithgow.
Hannah (Colman) travels to vibrant Amsterdam with her teen, Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde), to reconnect with her politically-engaged, gay father—affectionately known as “Jimpa” (Lithgow).
With warmth, humour and joy, JIMPA reminds us that, in every family, there are stories that don't add up.
This free community event was funded by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health as part of Mental Health Week 2026.
JIMPA is a heart-warming film which promote inter-generational relationships across LGBTQIA+ communities and their allies; promotes inter-generational learning on history, activism, and identity; empowers LGBTQIA+ families in their approaches to aging, death and dying; and celebrates and supports trans and gender diverse people and their families.
